Berlin, 14.10.2025 iris-GmbH infrared & intelligent sensors and Staex GmbH have entered into a strategic partnership to demonstrate Web3 technologies for future readiness of autonomous mobility and AI-powered video analytics for safety and transparency in public transportation.

The Collaboration: Mobility Meets Web3 Technologies

iris, a leading provider of passenger counting and video security solutions, will supply a fleet of buses with modular high-tech components for intelligent transportation. Staex, specializing in decentralized networking, will provide the secure infrastructure required to stream, anchor, and share data in real-world environments. This comes at a significantly lower cost and higher reliability than current solutions. Together, the partners will deploy the Trusted Data Chain solution on city buses across North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.

A Partnership that Redefines Smart Mobility

The partnership addresses some of the most pressing challenges in mobility: data security, transparency, and interoperability. By combining iris AI video expertise with Staex’s decentralized networking and blockchain integration, the partnership will:

  • Demonstrate near real-time tamper-proof video streaming between city buses in a multi-stakeholder network

  • Explore on-chain data anchoring for trust and accountability

  • Enable flexible third-party access and decentralized data sharing

These capabilities will help iris scale its solutions securely while opening doors to new smart and secure mobility services that rely on trusted, near real-time data for intelligent decision-making.

Next Step: Scaling Decentralized Mobility Across Any Fleet of Public Transportation

As the collaboration progresses, the partners have successfully transitioned from pilots to larger-scale deployments. iris' HYDRA Recorders are now being installed on passenger buses, each equipped with six high-resolution cameras. These recorders capture and transmit vast amounts of critical video data for safety monitoring, passenger analytics, meeting data protection standards and operational transparency.

For Staex, securely networking this infrastructure is crucial: decentralized connectivity ensures that sensitive data streams remain protected across multiple buses and locations—without relying on a single point of failure. Anchoring metadata on-chain provides municipalities and operators with verifiable proof that data has not been tampered with, creating a foundation for trusted, accountable public transport systems. This approach is especially vital as cities and transit authorities seek to modernize their fleets and integrate AI-powered analytics in compliance with privacy and safety regulations.

The partnership connects iris to Staex’s MINT initiative, a strategic program that brings together innovators in mobility and Web3. Through MINT, iris will participate in joint showcases, marketing activities, and high-profile events in Europe and the US, highlighting the role of secure networking in next-generation transport.
